Sankhu Nagarkot Hiking

Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Sankhu. Hike to Nagarkot (3/4 hour hiking)
Today you will drive for about 1-1.5 hrs to Sankhu which is a medieval Newar village and is a major pilgrimage center for the Hindu. Once a month there is a big mela (fair) organized at the temple of Vajrajogini located here. People fast and worship here for a month worshipping goddess Parvati. From here we hike to Nagarkot for the overnight stay. It is an easy hike through the beautiful terraces and fields. You will hike for about 3 hours before reaching Nagarkot. Overnight Nagarkot at hotel Country Villa.





Day 02: Hike from Nagarkot to Changunarayan (3/4 hour hiking).  Sightseeing around Bhaktapur. Drive back to Kathmandu.
Today you will wake up in the early morning to watch the spectacular sunrise over the Himalayan range. As the sun slowly lights up the Himalayas becomes extremely beautiful.  After breakfast, you will pack up and advance to visit the Changunarayan Temple which dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It was built in the 4th century and has a stone inscription which is the first recorded history of Nepal. Then you will have lunch and drive towards Bhaktapur. You will visit around Bhaktapur. Bhaktapur durbar square is one of the seven UNESCO world heritage sites located in the Kathmandu valley. The spectacular square, the capital of the Malla Kingdom till 1769, is an open museum in itself. Victorian illustrations show that it was once packed with monasteries, temples and artistic buildings. The square however still holds mesmerizing palaces, pagodas, shikhara-style temples as well as Buddhist monasteries exclusively architectured. After sightseeing around Bhaktapur you will drive back to Kathmandu.
